Steve Orr

OPENING: November 13th, 2015 6-10pm

Steve was here.
BUOY is proud to present a collection of mixed media works by Steve Orr, who passed away this summer. Most of the over twenty works will be for sale and all proceeds will go to Steve’s family.
A few words from fellow artist and longtime friend, Peter Donovan:
“Steve, like all of us, was filled with memories, dreams, achievements, and struggle. He practiced art-making as a means to reveal himself, where maybe otherwise he couldn’t. His art was exemplified in various themes: from deeply touching memorials to his mother, to images of the loss of his fingers, to tender longing in a reappearing back turned nude, to the crafted copper work and the zany dark fantastical cartoon characters,
Steve let himself be seen.”

Catherine Scala’s Prism Sentence

OPENING: Friday September 5th 2015

Catherine Scala’s Prism Sentence

FRIDAY IN A GOOD ROOM.
BUOY is thrilled to present Prism Sentence, an exhibition of fifteen new works by painter, Catherine Scala.

Scala has produced a new body of intimately-scaled paintings of wildly colored abstract structures. Her canvases are visual battlefields of competing forms, textures, and color, where the problematics of painting work themselves out through the diplomacy of abstraction.
FRIDAY.
